Iron Wind mystery
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:38:58 AM »
In the Iron Wind book on page 42 under the Prominent Persons chart, in the Tharg Jironak (tower of the astrologer) section, after Deniroik, Jalor, and Rogir, there are stats for a "Jaed the Navigator", a bard/Navigator of the Daruni Olkanin. Who is this guy? He is not mentioned anywhere else in the book, unless I am missing something. This has been puzzling me for about 20 years, and has resurfaced now that my current campaign has entered the Mur Fostisyr, and I find myself reading this book again. Does anyone have any insight to this?

My first thought is, PM Terry or Vroomfogle.  They are the resident SW experts.

You are right, there is nothing else in the book, you can assume that it's an example for a navigator they can meet.

In Cloudlords there were also three navigators to be used as examples. It could be also the guy in charge of taking the compass from Deniroik and has a contract for the PC's  ;D
You must feel the thought and think the feeling

Sounds good, but Deniroik is from the Vurn-Kye guild, and the text states that Jaed is from the Daruni Olkanin. I would think the Guides of Vurn-Kye would send one of their own, perhaps Sulfean Kuldir?

It's been awhile since I looked at this, but I am guessing that he was intended as a 'sample' Navigator for the GM to use in case the PCs want to get to the Mur Fostisyr via that method. As you probably know, IW was a group writing effort, and it sounds like more details on Jaed slipped through the cracks. Apologies!
