Emer III
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:58:20 PM »
Don't know how interesting it would be for you all to hear about the progress of the next major SW book as it cranks along... But I'm collating information for Emer III after all this time and it's well underway! Lots of material to pull together.

Two actual citadels of The Jerak Ahrenreth are located here, but I won't focus too much on them, because there is so much more to cover. I'm hoping to make it similar in format to Emer II, but weighted a bit more towards adventures, like Xa-ar was. There are also several cultures which have been underserved thus far (e.g., Krylites, Kuluku), which I hope to flesh out a bit. Plus the Isle of Jade of course.

As the book is coming together, I welcome suggestions!

More artwork, like the picture of the lighthouse in Izar.  I love that stuff!

Can't wait to see this one Terry!

For what it's worth, I always like the shorter adventures, which I can tailor better to my own campaign more easily. I also tend to think you sometimes go just a tiny bit mental with some of your traps, since few of my characters enjoy playing trap-monkeys or dying to poisoned darts, but hey... you do whatever you feel is right. I'll be buying whatever you're selling regardless :)

Best of luck!

would it make sense to have some of the Old Emer empire artifacts?  Such as from the Order of the ring, so on so forth.

Looking forward to it.

I'd like a description of the Lost City of Z?n and maybe some background abouth the Isle of Glass.

But the big thing for me would be all the Empire locations.

  • Starting with Coronan, in the mouth of the Sybarus riber, in Emer 2 this location appears and there is a city callled Tarakis.
  • Whatever remains of Shanish, the satellite capitol of the Empire established in Onar, along the northern coast and Intil, in the eastern coast of Rael (Emer I, p.26).
  • And of course if there are still settlements or ruins of the Empire in the north coast of Kh?m-kaan (Emer I p.25) plus the outpost in Malqanar.

Also some "Conanesque" adventures in the jungle.

How about a lost city deep in the jungle?  Kind of "Indiana Jones" meets the ancient Mayans.

I was thinking that the structure of Xa-ar or Jaiman is almost perfect. Culture, background, a few short adventures and a mini-campaign just fits very well my expectations.

Good input guys keep it coming. The Lost City of Zaen will definitely be detailed, and hopefully just about all the other things you mentioned...

Well eventually Terry will get to the City of the Dead ( you know the one I always suspected is on the cover of the Emer box  ;) ), but IIRC how Emer is split it will be in Emer IV, along with Itanis, and all the niceties there.

Does this mean [subtle hint]that there could be supplements fleshing these out at some point?[/subtle hint]

Yes, but the city of the Dead is not in the jungle but high in the Mountains, so it would be more Peruvian than Mayan.  ;D

A supplement covering all the strongholds of the J.A. would be fine and completely munchkin-destroyer dungeon.

Detailed information on languages and maps with borders indicating countries/kingdoms/nations...you get the picture. ;)
Information on various cities and how the population is distributed? Where can you find the different races?
That should take care of a few pages. :D

+1

Wow, a month away from forums, it has been a lot of time, but this sound good.

City of Dead, and all references with Tanarians and ancients or hidden cultures will be much appreciated.
Regarding the adventures, i like the ones that also give background to the timeline game, like Kier in Jaiman. I don't use the small adventures and dungeons as they come in modules, because i changed them a lot depending of the group and level.

Short adventures that expose you to quirks of the cultures & people of Emer.  That kinda thing.  It would be good to have some of the info presented in Haestra, and the other Emer books that were released in PDF updated, but not too much you can use Emer III to plug that material  ;)
