Title: Emer IV notes
Post by: Terry K. Amthor on December 06, 2019, 09:36:20 AM
Delving deep into Emer IV. As usual, lots to develop from earlier material beyond the City of the Dead. But then there are the rumored  lost journals Loremaster Selas Vey.

Of all your upcoming projects, the final quadrant of Emer is the one I am most excited for. Really looking forward to it!

IV will be as diverse as III, not just a big desert. There is a lot going on along the coasts, and more inland... And the City of the Dead will be nothing like the Jinteni city in SE Emer. Fewer Undead, more mazes, and puzzles, and tech... oh my!

Will Emer IV also include information or "links" to Gethaena?

Anyways I am very much looking forward to the book. :)

I am afraid not. Gethaena was originally written before Shadow World and not 'canon.'

Hey Terry,
Do you mean it was written way before the actual publication of the book, and then "made to fit" Shadow World to place it under Emer?

Gethaena was written long before there was the idea of an integrated Shadow World. I stuck it underground in the old atlas, but had no plans in future integrating it. I'm sure it will still be available.

Is this any closer to happening?

With the death of Terry, unfortunately I do not think we will ever see it published. Or maybe in an uncompleted version, if I.C.E. already has what Terry had written?

I was so looking forward to Emer IV. I hope something can be done eventually.

Terry had said that he had the guide to the area completed, and was simply working on City of the Dead.  I had suggested to him that he do the latter as a standalone, and he liked the idea and was looking into it.  I think ICE can publish a complete Emer IV, and that it would be a fitting tribute to do so.

Hi!
I’m curious if anything has been decided by ICE.
I definitely would purchase a Region description alone.

Cheers

Same here :)
But first we need the RMU-Spell Law

Last I heard the plan was to clean up and release Emer IV, though that might be on the backburner till all the core books are out.

Before they can release Emer, wouldn’t they need to revisit the atlas so they can RMU the races. A release with the old stats wouldn’t be very helpful considering that all the NPCs would look different under RMU.

There was talk of that too, for sure.

No, they really, really wouldn't.  Especially for those of us still running RM2 with zero intention of switching to any other system.

Trying to bump this to the top again. Seems like zero status for the last 10 months?

I know for sure I'd pay for even an Emer IV draft. I have great interest in that area of the continent! I do not need the City of the Dead, just "canon" details on the low SW of this region.

I think the main focus right now is on Treasure Law and the beast that is Creature Law I.

I understand Creature Law is rather heavy on artwork as well.   The editing requirements for core rulebooks are also much higher then most supplements.

The fundamental problem is that ICE has too many products for such a small team.   HARP Fantasy and SciFi (and settings), RMU, Shadow World...  Hopefully RMU books getting out will open the flood gates a little.

It does seem that they could use some editorial/layout help. I think Terry's passing exacerbated the issue (since he had done layout work too I think).

I seem to remember ICE putting out a call for help, but I'm not sure they got a response, so if anyone has skills, I would say get in contact with them.

Terry's shadow world books were generally excellent in the layout department.
