Hi, I have a question regarding the stat generation. After rolling the stats there's the option to "Replace your highest temporary stat with 90 and boost its potential by 10 (to a maximum of 100). Raise the potential to the temporary value if the potential is lower." And the rules also say "You may then pick any two of the following boosts (or pick one twice)". So may this option also get applied twice?
Let's say I have a 75 as highest temporary stat, with a 79 potential value. I'm using the aforementioned option once, which brings the temporary to 90, then raises the potential value by 10 to 89 and since that is lower than the potential, brings it to 90. When applying the option a second time the temporary would remain unchanged but the potential stat would again get raised by 10 to 100. Two options invested but a guaranteed 100 potential stat. Or am I missing something?

I would allow it and I think that is what Roll20 does.   It's not a big problem.  In fact if you have a character whose highest stat is less than 80... this is going to sorely needed.  ie Yes it's a biggish boost to a character with poor stats.

You can do that, but you are giving up the opportunity to raise some other stat's temporary. I think it's ok.

Thot

The question has been answered, so let me take the opportuity to mention the option to point-buy your stats (and, if you want to, also your potentials with a higher amount of points).

I really hope that option (to buy the potentials with points) makes it into the Character Companion.

If you are only using point-buy, personally I would say don't have potentials at all. Your potential is whatever your stats reach around level 20-25 at which point stat gains should stop. Since you could have just bought those potentials. Otherwise you're just forcing people to make all the decisions at character creation instead of developing organically; you reward people who stuck with their original plan and penalize people who let their character develop in unplanned ways.

Rolled potentials for point-buy are appropriate if some of your PCs are using point-buy and others are rolling stats, in that case it's important to limit them both the same way.

katastrophe

I much prefer the way point-buy stats worked in RMSS, where the initial temp was purchased, and the potential was determined by that initial temp score. Though I do think that the slow pace at which stats progress to be a bit tedious, at least in RMSS you reached your potentials usually by 6th for most part. This is however mitigated by the standard DP allotment which wasn't present in RMSS (as the stats determined the DPs.
