Alright, I'm designing an underground train that steals the souls of surface dwellers that hear its Shadow Song for my world of Nytheun. As such, I turned to Armored Assualt for its vehicle construction rules. The locomotive is based on the 4-8-4 Northern Locomotives that first came into production in the late 1920's. So I'm modifying the AA Vehicle Construction rules a little to fit early 20th century tech. But in so doing, I've got a pretty basic question that doesn't even touch on modifying the construction rules. Simply put: how do you calculate a vehicle's hits? I was under the impression that hits = mass. But looking at the example vehicles in AA; SS & their vehicle compendiums this doesn't seem to be the case. So how does one calculate construction HPs?

p.s. The idea for the "Demonic Underground Train" came from the amazing King Crimson song Doctor Diamond.

OK, I think I figured it out. CHPs (Construction Hit Points) = Mass + Armour Belt HP Bonus. My 4-8-4 Locomotative does not have an armour belt so its CHPs = Mass.

That was my understanding too, IIRC. Mass = hits unless there is extra armor or mods.

Yeah, it's funny what you can figure out by re-reading the rules a little closer :-[
