Channeling Companion Planar Summons question
« on: August 12, 2023, 05:05:10 PM »
In the companion it lists on p. 66:

Level 1-2: Type I
Level 3-4: Type II
Level 5-6: Type III
Level 16-20: Type V
Level 21-40: Type VI

What happened to Type IV? There is a planar Summons IV. Anyway, can someone clarify please? Thanks.

I would guess that 7-15 is type IV ?

In C&M, Pale I demons are listed as level 1A, Pale II as level 4H, Pale III as level 8H, Pale IV as level 13H, Pale V as level 18H, and Pale VI as level 27F (and Beyond the Pale as level 50G). Which would give a range of :
Pale I : level 0-2
Pale II : level 2-6 (adjust to 3-5 or 3-6 ?)
Pale III : level 6-10 (adjust to 7-10 ?)
Pale IV : level 11-15
Pale V : level 16-20
Pale VI : level 21-33
Beyond : level 40-60
Using only the 1-100 range of the level chart in section 2.1
There is a slight overlap between Pale I and II and between Pale II and III (thus my suggested adjustments), but overall, I think it fits (and I wonder why the ChCo did not use the C&M scale).

I think you can just fill in the blank.  The part you're referring to has....

Level / Type
1-2 = I
3-4 = II
5-6 = III
16-20 = V
21-40 = VI
41+ No Type

So it seems that 7-15 = IV was somehow left out in the layout.

THat seems like a wierd scaling though, type 1 to 3 is 2 levels, type 4 is 9 levels then type 5 is 5 levels

I'll have to dig up the original copy we sent in to see if it's an error that crept in post submission, or baring that just eyeball the spells vs power level of creatures it's applicable to.
The spells are all there, it's just that little table at the bottom that's messed up.  It seems like there should be two steps in that number range, so it's possible the types are messed up too.

Yep. Original doc I submitted back in 1998 didn't have that last bit at the end. Got added by ICE staff at the time.
So far four out of the five errors we've found post publication crept in between submission and publication. Kinda frustrating as an author!
