Title: Alternate level bonuses
Post by: Green Manalishi on June 14, 2023, 11:27:44 PM
Who uses a different way for level bonuses in RM2?

I know there are flat bonuses option in RMC (kinda like RMSS)

But have you tried others or created your own?

With the skill bloat of companion 2, and my preference for a flat profession bonus, one idea I had was to grant additional ranks in the categories a profession received a level bonus. So a +2 per level profession would give a flat +10, and each level the PC can choose two ranks in skills in that category with DP expenditure, up to normal maximum ranks per level.

Peter blogged about this back in 2016. Worth a read:

And I touched upon my own option:

I like your 8.1  Skill Rank Bonuses option.  Not as good at low levels as the RMSS bonuses (you need to hit around 4-6th level to get the same amount), builds faster than the old per rank bonus of RM2, but eventually taper off at high levels.

Thanks for the replies.

Also, I meant that a character would +2 ranks per level WITHOUT DP expenditure
