Hey all...I'm trying to help out our current GM and need some assistance from the informed croud as I don't have my books with me at work.
Back-ground: There are 4 player Dwarves in the party at 7th level and we recently acquired trained Battle-Boar as mounts. Problem, we need stats for them. Here are my working thoughts:
Research: I found several 'large' Boar, Hogs & Pigs...Monster Pig, Hogzilla, Big Norm, Coursey Pig, 1-Ton Pig, etc.
They ranged from 8 feet up to 12 feet in reported length (snout to base of tail)
They ranged in reported weight from 800 lbs to almost 2,000 lbs
Boar have tusks, pigs & hogs do not.
Boar Tusks ranged from 6" to 8" up to 18" to 22" in length.
Boar have thicker hides / skin than pigs, and have a course ridge / spin hair.
Armor Type: I'd guess an AT at either AT-3 or AT-4 (upper end of soft-leather), or AT-7 or AT-8 (upper end of thick-leather)? Can anyone tell me what that books list for this...we purchased High-Grade Steel chain barding for them, with plate 'helms' so this likely won't matter unless they get attacked while un-armored. Normally they'll be either AT-14 or AT-16.
Misc: We also bought saddles and I was wondering if these should provided any sort of bonus to basic riding and / or mounted combat manuevers? Maybe a +10 to Riding and +5 or +10 to Mounted Combat manuevers?
Attacks & OB: Boar have 3 basic 'attack' profiles from what I've read...tusks, bite, or charge. I'd personally size the Tusk & Bite at Medium and the Charge (Ram, Butt, Bash?) at Large if over 1,000 pounds?
OB:
Level 5 Battle-Boar: Can make 1 of the following attacks once per round
- Charge (Large attack on the Ram, Butt, Bash table) 90 OB (requires a full-movement run, sprint, or dash the round prior)...or Medium sized attack that doubles Concussion Hits?
- 1 Bite (Medium attack on the Claw / Bite table) 75 OB
- 2 Tusks (2 Medium attacks on the Claw / Bite table) 60 OB
Base movement: refer to the book or set at 30 or 40?
Level: Refer to the book or set at Level 5? (might be needed for spells, resistance rolls, etc.)
DB: I guess a base DB of 25 or so for quickness and animal instincts, and then add +2 or so for each level of training for the Boar (if they're 5th level they'd have a trained DB of 35 DB or 40DB)? Again, could anyone double check the books?
Other thoughts: Character-based mounted attacks 'on-the-charge' might double concussion hits or add an additional unbalancing crit or equal or 1-less severity, or a combination of both?
Thanks all.
