Fun stuff, though I think giving the caster AT 8 for 1 min/lvl as a level 2 spell is a bit overpowered. Did you mean RMU AT 8 or RM2 AT 8?
No, RMU AT8. My thoughts on this:
1. Nynaku clerics only had access to spells up to 10th lvl so when I did this list 3-5 years ago I focused mostly on the lower level spells (for good or bad).
2. per "Powers of Light & Dark", Nynaku is "one of the most POTENT and destructive of the Dark Gods". (emphasis mine) Therefore I wanted to give his clerics some "juice".
3. Stone Skin is a inherent power of Nynaku but gives him AT20 (AT 10 RMU). I always defer to the Diety's basic powers that Terry wrote as both inspiration and direction for these lists. Without parsing various types of soft and hard stone and creating a number of spells with escalating AT values, I thought "stone is stone" but didn't want to go the full AT10.
4. Defense philosophy. I'm not in the "up-level/AT" camp of RM theory. RM combat is dangerous and deadly and the original Spell Law had surprisingly few defense and buff spells for players. While herbs allowed for healing I never thought enough attention was given to mitigating damage beyond blade/missile turns and parrying strategies. If you have looked through BASiL spell lists you'll see that I tripled defensive lists--both in general bonuses, specific AT's, critical reductions etc. Like the Inis Base List I just don't see, and haven't experienced, balance issues with providing better defensive characteristics in spells or otherwise. Keep in mind that we use the size/damage rules in RMU beta2 so an AT8 might seem potent, but not so much against a Very Large creature attack that hits with a critical result.
Anyway, it's very easy to switch any of these spells back to RM or make adjustments to power levels! I appreciate any and all feedback, criticism or utilization of these and BASiL lists. These Orhan lists came much later than the BASiL V.2's I have been putting up, and there is some discrepancy in power/level between these and some of those. Ultimately, I'll put together the finalized lists but I doubt they will every match RM or RMU exactly since I've embraced some of Beta 2 rules and adopted my own material strength/lvl/imbed system that works into these spells.
On that note...if anyone is looking to collaborate on new projects I'm open to discussions. As I previously said, I could really use some help with design, layout, floorplan skills to move things along
a bit quicker.... Right now my goals are, in no particular order
1. Submit SW Religion Addendum to Terry and Nicholas for review, approval and
?. If they don't think it meets their requirements I'm happy to post up here in the SW files. It's been great for my campaign and gives Cleric/Channelers more structure for building their character design. Plus it adds a bit to SW world building (NON-CANON of course!!!)
2. Response mode for Priest-King of Shade (temp title).
3. Finish up Empire of the the Black Dragon and submit.
4. Put up Mentalism spells for Project BASiL. (followed by Investiture, Notational, Rendered, Incidental and Intrinsic). Still about 70-80 spells lists left, plus some "one-offs" that are in my conceptual folder and completed versions of Terrys misc lists for Steel Rain and others in "Powers" addendum and individual spell lists for Priest Arnak I dabbled with that I can finish up.
5. City of Nontataku in SW Agyra. Now an Alliance controlled city but also controls the Imarji Sea Tunnel and access to the Kuriis-Kinn lands.
6. The Grand Campaign. So...I've outlined some further chapters of the GC based on our my campaign notes and future projections.
7. Keep up 1-2 blog postings per week on www.RolemasterBlog.com with a effort to focus on SW for SEO and marketing benefits to the setting.
8. Going forward I'm going to post charts and data files here and leave design/philosophy/ideas for RolemasterBlog posts.
