Another great review of Emer III! Have you gotten yours yet?

That review was based on the pdf. Today I got my hardcover book. The book itself and the binding seem very solid and good quality to me. The paper is a bit thin and on a lot of pages the reverse sides shine through. This could be better, but it's acceptable. I have to say though, that I'm very disappointed with the maps on pages 204 and 205. Not only are the colours dull, flat and with little contrast. (This goes for all the images in the book, to some degree) But some of the labels are unreadable. For example the names "Swirling Sea", "Crystal Sea" can just barely be made out. They seem to be printed blue on dark blue. All the labels printed in yellow are readable on green background but dissappear where they extend into blue background i.e. water. So, on page 205 for example, what's supposed to say "Kraln" (the island) reads "raln". "Khashikhan" is "Kas" and so on. Wherever a word in yellow overlaps with blue, it disappears.
I can upload some photos, if you want so see it.

Ah - so it would have been posted from the UK printers.

Is anyone getting the same issues in the US?

Yes:
One thing I did notice is that on the maps in the back, the distance chart/line (whatever that is called) is impossible to read; the line shows up, but the type of the numbers is too small and is overwhelmed by the color around. the one in front looks great and works fine, so that one can be used to determine distance if/when needed.

I see it in my US copies as well. The thing is, I didn't alter the Illustrator files from the PDF version to the print version, so something clearly happened when the files were processed. What is particularly odd is that some of the knock-out white type for the water bodies printed fine, while at least one is almost invisible. And some of the yellow type shows over one color while not others...? Some weird printing problem?

I am attaching a PDF of those map pages for those who only bought print copies, and we'll investigate further. I do apologize for that, and understand that it is annoying.

As for the paper, yes that is part of the 'standard' color PoD option. I think we will stay away from page bleeds on standard color from now on.

Emer III is still hovering around within the RPGNow top 20! Thanks to all who have purchased it! And if you are looking for more Shadow World, don't forget the big module set in NW Jaiman, The Land of Xa-ar. My upcoming adventure module is set in Jaiman, with some Earthwarden links to this land.
