I thought that people here would be quite likely to know the answer to this.
I was trying to remember the name for buildings outside a city's walls, and finally remembered it was foulburgh, or foulburg. I can find lots of references to foulburghs in a search, but only in fiction and RPGs.
So, are they actually a real thing? Or something that was invented? Or do they have a different name?
