John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on this day, 3rd January 1892.

We cannot let this auspicious day pass us by without wishing him a warm Eleventy First Birthday !!!

Except that you missed it by a few years - his eleventy first was in 2003.

D'oh ... OK, I can't add. It's still his birthday.

I was busy this weekend ... but plan on reading the trilogy next weekend!

  Yes quite so, raise a mug in his honor.


 And reading the entire Trilogy in one weekend. Wohh that is an enjoyable task but IMHO works of art deserve to be appreciated and savored slowly.

You could do him the honor of not referring to his single narrative as a "trilogy".
