The spec in the article says 150kw/shot, 35MW seems like a hella lot of juice, that's about the size of most commercial power infrastructure turbines . . . .the twin power plants on the most recent british destroyers being built can kick 25MW (50MW total) and each is larger than a large mobile home and weigh a lot more than any single engine attack plane could lift. . .
Full scale naval nuclear reactors are 150MW and they generally carry 2 per ship. . .now that would make for a whole slew of juice for lasers. . .I wonder if we're returning to the era when ships could kill anything to the horizon.
Betcha these things are not so effective against thermally resistant materials like. . .dirt.
