I want to conduct an experiment relating to all our various house rules in all the different flavours of RM. If anyone has the time spare this week to create a starting character could I ask you to take a quite look at a post on the blog?

Thanks in advance.

I've tried 3 times to post on the blog page but is says the Captcha has expired by the time I hit submit. When I go back, the text is blank so I'll just ask here.
Do you have a set of stats that you'd like us to use for the PC creation or are we rolling up the stats. The backstory is great, but leaves the skill set open to imagination.
Do you want us to document what rules we used in a step-by-step process to identify RAW and Houserule?

Hi,
Not sure why the captcha is misbehaving.
The answers to your questions are:
Please use your regular stat generation method.
The skill set is intentionally vague, if a new player emailed you as a character concept and asked you to create her character for you then build what you would if she was going to join your campaign at the weekend.
No, I don't want to know how you arrived at the character sheet you send in.

Sounds good. I'll roll up this character as an NPC in my upcoming campaign. It looks like you don't mind if the level is not Level 1. The players in our gaming world start at Level 5. I'll send you the Level 1 sheet and the level 5 sheet.

You are quite right, starting character is starting character and not necessarily level 1.
p.s. I have taken the Captcha around the back and given it a stiff talking to. It promises not to miss behave again.

Can I push the closing time back to next week? A few people have said they will not have time to create an NPC this week. So if you would like to take part then I will happily accept character sheets at least until next Friday. You can email them to weareallawesome AT rolemasterblog DOT com.

Excellent. My son came home from college last night for surprise visit. I wasn't expecting him at all, so I didn't work on the character at all.

Peter, since stats play a huge role on the actual figures of the bonus and the progression, if you want to make things a bit comparable, I suggest you post at least the starting stat scores for your character.

As this is all about people who have house rules for character creation I do not want to influence character creation.
Some people have rules about low rolls, others do not. Some people use point buy and others have other more unique methods.
I have seen all the characters that have come in and it is very interesting.
I will say I expected more RM2 characters than I have recieved as I always imagined RM2 to be the most house ruled version and being the oldest major version has had the most time to accumulate house rules.

We're making the jump to RMU, but are trying to make it as much like RM2 as possible, with for example individual skill costs and resurrecting some of the old RM2 classes and spell lists. Had you asked for a Druid for example or even suggested Xan had some spells, I might have been using the RM2 spell lists for the Nightblade or Druid.

I wanted it to be as close to what would happen if a new player turned up at your table with an idea what to play but incapable of creating their own character.

That's a bit of synchronicity, really. While I was making my Xan, I was also making a character for someone who's going to run a recurring NPC - a female thief/rogue who grew up on the streets and wields two weapons. The NPC has some special ancestry (demon+angel) but otherwise, Xan and this character came together very similarly.
