Wendigo Camouflage ability
« on: June 24, 2009, 03:59:50 PM »
With their Camouflage ability Wendigos can turn themselves invisible if they spend 5PPs and make a Hard SD all or nothing maneuver...
Now, Wendigo SD bonus is +8, which means that they have to spend 5PPs andmake a all or nothing maneuver adding a total bonus of -4 (16 for SD x2 -20 because it's a Hard maneuver) to the roll...
I'm doing something wrong? How can they ever hope to activate their ability, save by a stroke of luck?
I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.

Bonuses for taking more than a single round (i.e. just like spell casting)

Perhaps learning the Mental Focus skill to aid in such rolls...

The idea is basically that they all have that ability, but some will be better at it then others....

Personally,I would give them a skill to develop. Say they have 1 or 2 ranks per level. It doesn't make sense the way it is done out of the book.

I agree with this.
Taking what Tim said into account, it seems, by design or accident, that the GM is expected/required to work things like that out to suit his own game.
I have no problem with that, I just wish there was a little more direction/instruction in the book.
But Randals suggestion looks great!

I would also go this way considering the ability a form of blood magic which if I remember correctly was not yet "invented" when Monsters came out. Should be no problem with one or two ranks per level, the SD bonus etc.
