Topic: Background Options Modifying Training Package Cost?

Hello,

My gaming group has decided to return to RMSS after many years of playing other systems. One question that has come up that I cannot find an answer to is how background options modify the cost of training packages.
This is mentioned in the training package sections of the Essence, Channeling and Mentalism Companion books but isn't expounded upon. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would direct me to where the complete description of this option is located.

Wow - I never noticed that paragraph before. 

I can't find anything in the RMFRP core rules or the Character Law book. I don't have the RMSS versions though.

I can't either, and also not in the RMSR. It's possible it was in the first printing (which treated everyman/occupational/restricted skills differently as well)...? Personally, I would disregard it.

Don't be so fast to dismiss it! The section you are looking for is "Professional Qualifiers"

For example, in Essence Companion, the Demonologist TP states:

Professional Qualifiers: Dark Pact flaw, Open Door flaw, or Dark Temptation flaw [-7 points]

This means that if you have those flaws, the TP cost is reduced by 7 DPs.

The potioner TP, on the other hand, reads:

Professional Qualifier: A total of 6 ranks in Alchemy and Biochemistry [-3 points]

So it's better to train a little before purchasing this package.

Hey guys,

One of my players actually found the rules regarding talents and training package cost:

Its on page pg. 61 in the Martial Arts Companion, Section 11.3.2 Training Packages - You can spend 1 background option or 10 talent points to half the cost of one training package.
