Maybe he's going adventuring to make enough money to get them put back.  ;)

No, no.  Having the coin BEFORE risking life and limb is the best approach.  Don't want to get caught hoping for a, uh...handout.  Layhealers charge a lot for four animated limbs, and artist charge a great deal to carve them, not to mention the paint job.  Can a limb act as rune paper?

15 years or so ago we had a PC who kept getting his hand amputated (E slash Critical -> 81-85 if I remember correctly). Mercifully we were pretty high level (20s) and we had a healer who knew all the Channeling Spell Lists, so it was just a matter of not bleeding too much until all the joining spells could be cast. That is, until one day the GM got tired of the whole process, which really happenned at least once a week. An Orc took the hand and ate it. The look on the player's face ... priceless.

Cory Magel,
Yes Matt also applies but when we first heard the non arms no legs jokes we also heard of some one trying to attract some large animal so we added that description to Matt.

(Yes if he had a line in his mouth he would also be Bait)
