Title: Guild Companion April 2015 (Issue 194)
Post by: Kristen Mork on April 04, 2015, 08:46:06 AM
Greetings from the Guild Companion; Issue 194 is available at www.guildcompanion.com (http://www.guildcompanion.com). This month, we present Alternative Weapon Styles for HARP by Jörg Jahnke. We have a couple more articles in the queue, but it’s time to renew the call for content.

Some corrections/improvements for the Alternative weapon style rules for the HARP system article, which came up only quite late after the submission:
- Using the Weapon Style: The first sentence should be replaced by the following text: "To use a weapon style the character must have at least as many ranks with his weapon skill as with his style. In combat the user of a weapon style will use his Weapon Style OB for the attack instead of the weapon OB." This is more in line with the usual handling of combat styles in HARP.
- Style Options:
 * Initiative bonuses should be double the currently given values, i.e. +2 Initiative for 5 style options etc.
 * Defensive Ward we meanwhile split into a Lesser variant (as described in the document) and a Greater Defensive Ward variant, which is like the Lesser variant except that it grants +15 DB when using the shield against one opponent. The Greater variant costs 15 Style Points.
 * We reduced the initiative bonus from the Blade Barrier style option, because the style still seemed a bit too powerful for our taste.
