Last night, after putting my son to bed, I was in a restless gotta-do-something mood. I've been looking at the Privateers maps and trying to think of a better way to present them. Using Google Sketchup was an option, as it's free and would handle the 3D aspects fairly well, but it would look... odd.
I discovered that
Universe Sandbox has an option for starting with a blank map and creating whole new systems, so I started with that. It is kind enough to translate parsecs into LY, so I was able to simply type in the coordinates for each system and it placed them properly.
I just used a generic 'sun' for each point for now; later, I might go through it and try to get the actual stars copied. I color-coded the Empire in red, and the ISC in blue. Neutral systems are in the default white.
This is only using the ISC systems mentioned in the core SM:P book. I don't have access to any books that go into more detail with the ISC. The Empire, as the core book states, is mapped in its entirety.
I'll be re-coding the labels to show which race is dominant in each world. I may also go through it and re-color them to make it easier to tell them apart.
Here's a screenshot from it. I'll be happy to share the scenario file, but I want to wait until I've detailed it fully before submitting it for Vault inclusion.
