Topic: Profession costs for spells

Did I read or just make up that a spellcaster's sphere would have a profession cost of 2 as if it was a favored category? What about the universal sphere where spell users are concerned? Is this also favored for spell users?

That depends if your character has Magic as a favourite skill category (,which should be the case for a spellcaster profession). Spells are handled as any other skills and they belong to the magic category.

It's yes to both questions. If the profession has the Magical category as a Favoured category, then Universal and their own Sphere are 2 DPs per skill rank.

So I didn't make that up. Whew! But weird enough, I can't find such a rule anywhere in the books so now I'm confused where I saw it. Thanks for the reply.

See Harp p31. Table 6.3 (Mystical arts is a category, and your profession specify which categories are favored or not), and p44 for Spell Casting skill (each spell in Harp is a skill).

You know sometimes I can be slow on the uptake but this is just a new low for me. I never realized that Spell Casting was a skill whereas its subskills were your spells itself.
