Racial creation rules?
« on: April 12, 2008, 04:24:20 PM »
Hi there! I was just curious if there were ever any rules printed/posted for creating alien races for Spacemaster: Privateers.

Obviously, good ol' Talent Law from Rolemaster will cover most of it - but it seems there's some different wrinkles added, especially with the attribute bonuses/penalties being so much more.

Were the costs of said bonuses penalties calculated differently? The answer must undoubtedly be "yes" - recreating the Privateer races via Talent Law, they seem like they'd end up with some crazy high point costs, and have no talent points/background options left over for characters of those races.

Anyhoo, I'd appreciate anyone being able to point me in the direction of some racial creation info or resources.

Thanks!

I tried to recreate some of the races too and came up with high point totals. No big deal. What I did was subtract 100 talents points off the top of races created with Talent Law RMSS and it was close. But you should check it out as it was about 8-10 years ago that I did it. My memory could be wrong.

There are additional rules in Future Law as well as one of the Data Nets for SM:P race creation rules and talents.

Bacon Law: A book so good all PC's need to be recreated.
Rule #0: A GM has the right to change any rule in a book to fit their game.
Role Play not Roll Play.
Use a System to tell the story do not let the system play you.

The Datanet #3 is all about Racial Creation, so you should look into that one.

I think violence in games only causes violence in real life if the person in question has an insufficient mental capacity to deal with the real world in the first place. But, that's more the fault of poor genetics and poorer parenting than it is the fault of a videogame
