Title: Total Munchkin Question

I know, this makes me a munchkin, but I've got to know:

What happens if I cast a spell in a magical language while within the radius of an earthnode.  Do I get a double discount on power points?

 We use magical languages as a bonus to cast ,(also increases failure) and nodes to drop the required PP for spells. So they dont exactly add for us.

 There is a rule in a Comp somewhere for multipliers in Nodes. Basicaly, a 3x Multiplier in a 2x Node results in a total of a 4x result. (not 6x)

Like the BGO "Archetype" gave x2 PPs per level.

Used with a x3 PP multiplier.

you'd stack to x4 not multiply to x6.

I really liked "innate magician" and "power" as THE munchkin combination of background options - although this has nothing to do with this topic, sorry.

There are rather few GMs who would allow that combination or late Innated casters overcast ;)
 other than that, we use Magical Language different, usually as a bonus on ESFs or durations, never to reduce PPs, but in any case I would probably let the bonuses stack or ask the caster to use his Language in a different way, so he still would get bonuses from both node and language, just not the same one

I can find references here and there to mutiplication stacking, ala the x2+x2+x2 = x4 not x6 or x8. (i.e. you stack the extra, and do not cross multiply.)

Applies in other factors, like x2 concussion hits from two different sources should be x3 not x4 by the same logic.

Many instances where the multiplication doesn't apply are listed. (Like, you cannot use two PP multipliers at the same time.)

But I can't find any reference at all to stacking of Division. . . .like if you have an effect of "One half" something laid on top of another "One half" is that "None" or "One quarter" per normal math, or "One Third" per the stacking logic for multiplication?

I can't find a rule, errata, or reference to that anywhere, so in the end, for the original question, Tim's answer seems to be the right one. . .there is no official method I could find so it's a GM call.

Unless you consider division to be the mirror image of multiplication, in which case the answer to the top question would seem to be "One Third the normal PP". (Which seems whacky.)

You definitely pulled a weird one out, Dutch.

I always thought it was you do your power points (with or without archetype) and that total is what you multiply with the PP multiplier. Essentially, the archetype talent grants you everyman for your power point development skill. The item that multiplies your power is only applied after.

Either way works, and both make sense.

I adopted the addition of multiples instead of multiples of multiples because it keeps the power level at a reasonable level...IMO of course.
