Hmmm, still a very high lv spell.
I was thinkng more "nihil the archmage want to achieve power fast"...
At Lv30 it's all academic because you're already powerful enough to alter major events and politics.

Fidoric

QuoteSo how specific is the topic "Everything this magician knows about Fire Spells?"
IMO it should not work that way. Magic is as much a mental effort as a somatic one. I don't think that a spell list is a mere collection of words. It certainly includes mindsets, gestures... Otherwise, it would mean that you can learn a spell by watching it being cast.

Right, sorry, didn't remember how high-levelled that spell was. Although, the lower level spell might aid in learning, migh, however, also make it more dangerous as you get knowledge with gaps and have to find out what those gaps are ... a bit like spells casting as a Chaotic from RMSS Arcane Companion.

Demons are notorious for selling power for a relatively low price...  ;D
I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.

And the demon asks do you want a bridge to go with that spell? Or as Alice Cooper says "Nothing's free" :evil1:

Just to learn Fire Law would probaly take a month with a willing teacher.
I'd 2x or 3x that if using a lower lvl mind suck spell.(if you got no repeaded info) ;D
The odds are against keeping the mage from frying you during this time. All he needs is one good save.....

It seems difficult to get the job done with a spell. The main problem is the duration of charm-like spells. Maybe a ritual can be useful ?

How about a charm or suggestion amulet that has the wearer under constant "control" of the bearer of a matching item?

A simple suggestion or charm would enable the trickster to convince the other person to put the amulet on.

Now your talking about a item with Subjugation on it. would probaly work for a while, target still gets rr every so often. Not to mention the prob of targets "freinds".
Time is still the main problem.

I would think that forcing a mage to teach you something would be a very difficult thing to accomplish. You are talking about a very dangerous and specialized skill, that the mage can use against you. It would be best to convince them or bribe/pay them, and if that fails try to find someone else.

If you really want a particular mage to teach you something, and they really don't want to, then I think the best thing would be to snatch up something they really want/love/need and hold it over them. (It would probably work best if someone you trusted held it for you so you are 'safe.')
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.

Rules should not replace the brain and thinking.

 Got it!!!

I dont know why it took so long for me to see the obvious answer.

HIRE someone he WILL teach to learn from mage THEN have them teach you! ;)

May take longer, but its safer and you will learn it the right way. ;D

Of course there is that level 5 Magus spell Great Command (If you use the Magus) 5 word commands "You will obey only me" I am the master, then followed by a series of non magical commands, "you will never directly or indirectly cause me harm", "now teach me...."

Also a good spell for world domination. :evil2:

Or perhaps charm the mage, then ask:

"Who knows this list and is less picky about teaching it?"
