Towers of Hanoi

Just curious.  If you want to expound on your answer, I wouldn't mind if you put it in spoilers, for those who aren't aware of it.  It's probably not relevant to anything here, but people might run into it in other games.  This is mostly for information gathering on my own part.

 I remember trying to do it way back when during a math puzzle solving class where we just tried to solve various puzzles for logic reasons.

When I was taught it (in a programming class), we were also told about the legend of a Tibetan temple where a group of monks were playing the game with 64 counters, and when they had completed it, the world would go under. (The Legend is not true, but the Legend of the Legend is  :) )

I had a little program that worked on that legend.  It was making scores of moves a second.  I shut it down after it ran for almost a week going 24/7 and was less than a quarter finished.

Yup, recognised it from the title. The problem with classic puzzles is they're classic *shrug*
Maybe if it's sufficiently abstracted players might not recognise it straight away?

Yeah, you guys made up my mind.  One of my friends mentioned to me it was in Mass Effect too (I barely remember it, but they are right).  Anyway, I won't be using it.  Adventure 7 (which is what I was asking for) will have a far harder but less time consuming and less well-known puzzle.

 IMO that is a lot wiser and better for adventuring. Hard is good but if it takes 10min to complete the puzzle it is way to long.
 How about the square puzzle with 4 groves and a ball in each groove? There is a magnet in the center of the square that attracts the balls as you tip it one way or another. You have to get the balls on the outside of each groove.

 Yes you do. Of course you have to put a fantasy spin on it but the principle is still there.
