Anybody know what happened to Ictus's site, Real Roleplaying?
I cannot log in.

Unknown, but last recent visit this morning showed 8 Guests and no Users online out of 350 Users total...it would suggest an issue with logins like you’re experiencing.
Hopefully it won’t take long for them to fix for you and others.

I am still able to log in and post, but my wife is not. There is some oddity about the forums that we can't quite figure out so for now, I post for her.

It took a few tries over a couple of days to finally be able to log in. It'd be a shame if this was stopping people from posting.

We've still people posting there... I don't know why you can't log in though

Might be something with your browser / cookies themself, then if not on the same PC as the Wifey?
Test a second browser - always.
If it still won’t work for you, it is something with the PC or them, like you’re thinking:
For your side...
If different PCs than what works for the Wife - after testing on her PC that you’re able to login fine - hold your CTRL key down when on their page and while doing so, tap your F5 key. It will force a refresh of the page from the online version if your browser is somehow stuck thinking it should use a cached copy of the page that no longer works.
If all else fails, do the usual(knowing it will require you to retyoe all those pesky PWs in again, and delete your cache/cookies/etc. from your browser.
——-
If still not able to connect on a totally separate and second PC, you can say it is them with your particular account. A last test could be making a new dummy account and see if it works AOK.

As a small addition (to Majyk's great post), I'd also suggest, in this age of cell phones, to try the site with your cell phone browser (as long as it's not using your home WiFi). I say that because it's not unknown to get DNS/ISP filtering issues interfering with a page load. By trying a whole different internet path, you might get different results.

The site had some technical issues, but is live again
-
The site has now been set to accept new members only by invite. So if you'd like to join, send me a PM.
Unfortunately we had to disable the auto-membership system, because the site's automated program was letting in far too many spambots :(
-
That's good to know. How do interested parties over on Facebook and elsewhere reach you?
Please advise,
Old Man

Didn't know we HAD a presence on Facebook! (I'll check...)

But I meant for friends on FB but not here.

I suspect in the grand scheme of things, there may have been greater evils.

And thus everyone on the forums learned what the world has long known: When it comes to sarcasm, never try to outdo a Brit.

The site is still active, there are still quite a few games running on it but with the recent upsurge in VTT due to the recent "interesting times".. I'm guessing the games (and interaction in them) are now a little more niche than before... I'm running one and playing in two.. they aren't the only ones ;)
Besides, I seem to spend more time preventing spammers than posting in games.. :(

Grinnen, for those not on RR or here, what is the best way to contact you to set up a new account?

I've been GMing a game for a few months now using roll20. I purposefully made sure it was episodic, mission based, and basically a series of one-offs so that people could drop in and out as required. After we reached level 3 I asked for feedback.....and they asked for more complex stories and roleplaying opportunities. Nice.

Well, the registration system still allows new people (that's part of the problem, because spam bots can figure that bit out)... but it gives the "option" of filling a field out in that application stating what games you play and why... spam bots are not that clever, either leaving it blank or fill it with inappropriate gibberish... So "Actual" legitimate people will still get through.

So that's an update since March's post of yours?
The site has now been set to accept new members only by invite. So if you'd like to join, send me a PM.

Yes, I guess so. Ictus re-instated the automated acceptance system, principally to allow new members to join easily.. but I believe the number of actual new members since has been *about* 10, of which 3-4 are active... compared to the 40-50 spam bots I'm having to reject each DAY because it's not been set to reject automatically after 14 days BUT accept them after 14 days. I'll have another look at trying to change it... but I think it's an owner thing, and I'm not the administrator/owner, only a minion. :(

Thanks for the update. Will prod newbies to use the standard method.

Uhh... NO! There is only one thing more evil than social media. However, I cannot say what it is... (forum rules)
Grinnen, going to PM you over at RRP.

Well, Chrome considers *this* site insecure... ;)

If a site has no secure socket connections it can cause lots of problems. ie shows as HTTPs vs HTTP.
